It was a late push back this Saturday for our away game against Osterley
Having played Osterley last season we knew on their day they absolutely had the ability to threaten us. We knew nothing was a given and we came into the game missing some of our regular attackers. We were a team heavily weighted towards defenders, I even made my debut at Central Attacking midfielder.
The game was one of strong defence and lightning fast attacks. With several players Sai, Glen and Lucas getting their first goals of the season.
We knew the opposition were very skillful with their strong stick skill and close quater gameplay. Being aware of this we made sure to double up on players frequently forcing turnover in possession far away from the danger zones. Nick was second to none with his defensive duties closing up the centre and not being tempted to dive in for a tackle.
Sai, Glen and Toby got us to our lead of 4-0 by half time. We talked about our strategy and made an emphasis on keeping the pressure on. In the second half we were a bit more tired from such a fast paced game but we pushed on and Toby, Lucas a nd Sai got us to our final score of 8-0. In total Sai got two, Glen one, Lucas one and Toby got a haul of four goals.
For man of the match it was a tough call, with on e of the opposition saying that we had about six people who could have easily got it. But by a narrow margin Nick was voted man of the match for his supreme effort in defence.
Now sitting third in the table, we're coming for promotion!
