The u16 boys welcomed Blackheath and Elthamians for the Plate Final on Sunday.
The visitors got off to the perfect start scoring after 5 minutes, and were dominant for large parts of the first half but Ealing got to half time just one goal down.
The second half saw B&E score an early second, before two goals in two minutes from Toby (a close range volley and a penalty stroke) bought the match level.
Some dogged defending and reflex saves from Louis kept the tie level until the pressure told and Ealing conceded from a short corner with around 20 mins to go.
The boys didn’t let their heads drop, and were rewarded with a second penalty stroke that Toby duly dispatched with around 5 minutes remaining.
The team saw out the remaining few minutes, with the match ending 3-3.
The penalty shootout was as tense as the match. Goals for Toby and Fin along with 2 great saves by Louis put Ealing 2-1 up going into the final set of penalties. Daniel stepped up to take Ealing’s fifth penalty stroke, driving the ball low to the keepers right to win the plate for Ealing.
A great comeback win, full of grit and determination across the whole team. Commiserations to B&E who more than played their part in a pulsating match.
