Women's 2 vs Eastcote L4

It’s the final count down. Do do do dooo. Let me set the scene; Ealing needed to win to secure their place in the league for next year, Eastcote out to prove they can put a goal past us, the game last time ending 0-0. 

The sun was blazing 🥵 but the twos turned out in full force. A good contingent of subs meant the midfield had to work their socks off and switch round. Eastcote, as always, were a fighting side and the score stayed 0-0 through the full first half, despite Ealing having most possession. Some cracking runs up the wings by Miyabi and Lauren, passing on to Maddie Zoe and Molly saw us attack with vigour, but Eastcote Defense held strong. Shout out to their GK who earned her keep!

The second half, Ealing put the pressure on again, Shaan and Marie stopping everything that came through the middle, Kath and Izzy sweeping up the outside. Some dazzling attacks by our two defenders- Maike and Phoebe (who really were raring to go) added even more pressure. And you know what they say - diamonds are made from pressure. The addition of Niko up front helped us slot the ball through and Maddie scored! 

1-0 Ealing, but the game wasn’t done. Eastcote had a renewed attack and put the pressure on, trapping us up front. However, some silly silks from Maike and Phoebe combined got us out of trouble. 

Kath, with her signature reverse stick stops and Jen with her general bull in a china shop approach to hockey, saw us get the ball back up front again and slotted in for our SECOND! 

Moments remained and we held onto the ball. Massive congratulations ladies. Here’s to next season!
