Mens 2 vs West Hampstead M8

01 November 2025 | Zarni Win
Mens 2 vs West Hampstead M8

The EHC M2 went into the home game gunning for their first win, feeling confident, as It was the first time they had a full squad of 15 with multiple subs, and with the knowledge of having one of the strongest defenses in the league.

EHC were dominant throughout the entire game being aggressive to the loose ball, intercepting passes,  pressing like demons & stringing multiple passes throughout all sectors of the pitch.

Bhim was clever in his movement & finding pockets of space; Sam and Henry were energetic & like terriers hassling the opponent across the entire pitch & passing intelligently; Gianluca was smooth & reliable as ever; Toby & Ben were skillful & anticipated the opponents every move; Bodhi & Dan were reliable on the left, keeping the attacking shape, offering probing final passes; Richard grew into the game & was unlucky to miss a couple of finishes by inches; Zeya was marauding more centrally than usual with intent, skipping easily past players; Jem ventured ambitiously up & down the left wing, but sadly limped off near the end with a hamstring injury; Joshua showed off his passing repertoire with a pinpoint kick pass to the halfway line, to start another EHC attack.  Zarni & Matt learnt a new rule - even attacking players had to obey the 5m rule when passing to each other! Matt was as combative as ever, enjoying his free attacking role, only having to play one match in a day this weekend! Zarni spent most of his substitute cameos wrestling with their sturdy left wing, but ended the match with a friendly man hug.

In the second half EHC kept up their attacks. Matt unluckily had a goal disallowed for a back stick. Despite EHC dominance, West Hampstead scored from a short corner 9 minutes from the end, against the run of play. However, EHC M2 showed their true mettle & resilience and kept pushing. They were rewarded with a goal 1 minute from the end, with Daniel assisting & Matt drilling the ball into the left hand corner. My, the roar of delight from the boys was loud!

The most complete & dominatiing performance was Hassan in defense; cutting out several passes to their striker, knicking the ball off attackers, speedy recovering tackling & mature distribution of the ball.

This team is gaining more confidence & composure each week. The boys are realizing that they are fitter & faster than 99% of the older men in the league! Keep it up lads. Your time will come.
