The U14 girls have been afraid of The Mighty Surbiton for as long as I can remember. But, easily matching them in the first half at least, the Buzzards need fear them no more.
Ealing defended 6 penalty corners in the first half alone, but nothing made it past player-of-the-match Ariyana's brilliant first running until the 18th minute, when the ball eventually ran loose for an easy Surbiton finish. But Ealing equalized quickly, a great break by Elena leading to a rebound for Jess to finish low in the corner.
The second half was less enjoyable, and Surbiton probably deserved their win. But overall a great performance from players who were mostly playing Tier 3 last season. They all showed themselves perfectly capable of playing at this higher level.
